Do I need a custom rod?
Yes and no. Anglers who will benefit the most from a custom rod are anglers who fish very often and need long lasting equipment. They may also want a variety of rods lengths and strengths from one manufacturer giving them continuity amongst their spread. Some look to custom builders for matching what they may already have and can’t find anymore. Keep in mind: custom rod building is also an art of strength and quality. Finding a builder that can combine these features at an affordable price is getting very hard to come by.
How do I get you to build me a custom rod?
First you need to, at the very least, know what you intend to target with the rods you are looking for. Our support staff is available by phone, though you’re better served by email where we can send along photos while we discuss your needs. Otherwise, the rods are very simple to order on-line or via fax.
How much does a custom rod cost?
The prices shown on this site are for rods built to the specifications shown on their respective page. Otherwise, prices vary for rods built with your material list. And we do welcome those orders. WE ARE NOT A HIGH VOLUME MANUFACTURER. Our production staff for 2006 will make approximately 1200 rods.
We are not new to rod building. Our staff has been building custom rods for a decade. During that time we have accumulated a wealth of knowledge on rod building. When you purchase a custom rod from BITEMYSISTER you are not only paying for rod components, quality workmanship but priceless long range fishing experience from our staff. If you feel our price is too expensive, which is highly unlikely, you should consider another custom rod builder.
How long does it take to have a custom rod made?
It depends on how busy we are. Usually the wait is about 2 weeks, longer if we are swamped with orders.
Can you make me a rod that is good for everything?
No. If we could we would be a rich. To get the utmost from a custom rod it should be designed for a single use. Example: stand-up tuna fishing or marlin trolling rods. We do carry several rods that are likely to allow you the benefit of targeting several species in different manners, like our 50-80# all ceramic guide rod with fast taper tip available in both straight and bent butts.

What colors look good?
BITEMYSISTER RODS are available in a blue and gold series of color combinations. Our gold wraps can be ordered to closely match either
Do you do repairs?
Yes. We can replace broken or worn guides. We can not fix broken blanks or replace missing rod sections.
Can you rod match?
We can and do that very well. Very often we have been sent a rod by someone looking to match a wrap or style of a rod they already own. We can match nearly any wrap and guide configuration. The cost is usually materials plus $ 130.00 for labor.
What’s the deal with the gaffs?
The 5'-6"’ gaffs we make are a compliment to your rod selection. They are made from E-Glass, 130# blank. They are wrapped in the same colors as your rods or in whatever color you want. The ribbed handle offers worry free handling of your quarry. We carry 12 hook sizes too!! Special lengths to 8’ are available upon request.
